Myotubular Trust is a UK registered charity (1137177). Myotubular and centronuclear myopathy are a group of rare and devastating muscle conditions causing severe weakness, affecting mainly boys from birth. In the most severe form, infants are at risk of dying in the first weeks of life from something as simple as a ‘common cold’. The Myotubular Trust was created in February 2006 by mothers of boys with myotubular myopathy. Their goal is to fund research to find a treatment or cure for myotubular myopathy. So far thirteen research projects have been funded and over £1,800,000 has been raised.  The good news is that there are recent and major breakthroughs in the world of muscle disease.  The Myotubular Trust aims to continue to fund research, support affected families and individuals and help the new breakthrough treatments reach babies, children and adults affected by all forms of the conditions.
